Letter from the Vice President of Recruitment:
On behalf of the Panhellenic Community Council at UNC Charlotte, I am thrilled to welcome you to the Charlotte Panhellenic Recruitment Process! My name is Miranda Balok, and as your Director of Recruitment, I want to congratulate you for taking this first step of your collegiate journey, and assure you I am here to support and guide you through this special experience.
Participating in recruitment is the first step in embarking on a journey filled with new friendships, personal growth, and lifelong opportunities. Being a part of a Panhellenic sorority is more than just a membership - it is a community of strong, empowered women dedicated to scholarship, service, leadership, sisterhood, and fostering growth throughout your collegiate career. All of Charlotte Panhellenic is filled with women who will support you through your collegiate journey and push you to your greatest potential here at Charlotte.
In my experience, I struggled on whether or not I wanted to go through the formal recruitment process. In complete honesty, I was rather against joining a sorority due to a variety of factors, such as stigma, stereotypes, cost, or if I would fit in. However, I can confidently say being a Panhellenic woman is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I went from doubting if Panhellenic was for me to being absolutely in love with our Panhellenic community, and even getting the opportunity to serve as your Vice President of Recruitment. Panhellenic has brought me further in life than I ever thought I could go, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
Throughout recruitment, you will have the opportunity to meet and connect with members of each of our 7 amazing organizations over three days of formal recruitment. Throughout these days, you will learn about their values, and find the chapter that aligns best with your personal morals and goals. Whether you are seeking close-knit friendships, a platform to make a positive impact, or opportunities for development, I can assure you there is a place for you within our Panhellenic Community, and you will continue to grow because of it.
I encourage you to step into recruitment with an open heart and mind. Remember to be yourself, and most importantly trust the process! I know it can seem counterintuitive to trust a process you have never been a part of, but it is designed for you to find the place you belong. It may be hard to block out others' input when going through the process, but trusting yourself and your intuition is of utmost importance. You are the one who decides your forever home, trust yourself and your heart. Every woman is a Panhellenic woman, every chapter is unique and I am confident that you will find a home that feels right for you in Panhellenic.
Please take a moment to review the recruitment schedule and guidelines and feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. We are here to support you and make this experience as enjoyable and rewarding as it can be!
We cannot wait to welcome you into this sisterhood and support you as you begin this exciting chapter of your college experience!
With love,
Miranda Balok
